- 1/2 cup oats
- filtered water
- 1 scoop whey isolate protein powder (or complete plant based protein powder for a vegan alternative)
- frozen berries
- true cinnamon
- stevia
Rinse the oats thoroughly and place them in a small pot or small saucepan, add just enough water to cover them. Place a lid and turn the fire on. As the water starts to boil, take out the lid, reduce the heat and keep cooking on low heat, stirring from time to time, till the water is fully absorbed and a creamy consistency is reached.
Meanwhile, using a bowl, combine 1 scoop of protein powder (preferably unflavoured) with 1-2 tbsp water until creamy (stir gently enough, as to avoid foam and bubbles). If you’re using plant based protein, skip this step, as the powder will combine nicely and smoothly with the porridge without any additional water.
Once the oats are ready, pour them over the protein and water mix and stir to obtain a rich and creamy porridge (again, try to be gentle, as you want to avoid clogs and foam). If you’re going for the vegan version of this recipe, pour the porridge in a bowl and add your protein powder on top; then combine.
Add stevia to taste and garnish with frozen berries and true Ceylon cinnamon. Fresh mint leaves also make for a great topping. Enjoy!
